Stephanie was a natural-born perfomer, and she began studying piano at age 6, then flute at the age of 10. Her first flute teachers were Alan Vogel (Cal Arts Professor and member of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra) and Pat Maki of the South Bay Conservatory. In high school she played in wind ensemble, orchestra, and competed in several chamber groups. Her flute teacher at that time was Donna Clark. While at UCLA, Stephanie studied with Mark Carlson and Gary Gray of the LA Chamber Orchestra. Next, Stephanie encountered jazz great Buddy Collette who took her under his wing and opened her eyes to the beauty and freedom of jazz. She continued to perform with several symphonies in Los Angeles as well as play solo gigs for VIPs including one for Margaret Thatcher. While Stephanie was studying conducting with Francisco Burgos she was asked to conduct the encore performance of "Love Lies Waiting" by composer/guitarist Mark Fitchett for the Regina Klenjoski Dance Company at the Ford Amphitheather in 2004. The show was nominated for a Lester Horton award for best original music for a modern dance choreography. Sensing a natural partnership, Stephanie and Mark Fitchett decided to collaborate to write original jazz/latin smooth jazz tunes. Inluences: The Beatles, Caetano Veloso, Jobim, El Debarge, Bach, Buddy Collette, Branford Marsalis, Josh Grobin, Spyro Gyra, Donnie and Marie, Ambrosia, Bonnie Raitt, Kenny Loggins, John Denver, the Brothers Gibb, Queen, Rush, Led Zepplin, Al Green, Luther Vandross, Andrea Bocelli, Barry White, Kenny G, Annie Lennox, Miles Davis, Sarah Vaughn, Etta James, Jamiroquai, Joao Gilberto, Santana, Peter Paul & Mary, Outkast, Orleans, Lenny Kravitz, Bizet, Tchaikovsky, Neil Young, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Joe Cocker, Tom Waits, Mozart, John Coltrane, Chopin, Pink Floyd, Supertramp...you know, the usual!
